It's that time of year again! We are collecting new and used shoes at our office during the week of Monday, June 10, 2024, through Friday, June 14, 2024. Here are the deets:
Where & when can I drop off shoes to donate?
We will have a box available to drop off shoes at our office:
7305 Midland Road, Suite 2, Freeland, MI, 48623
The donation bin will be available during our office hours the week of June 10th:
Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM
What type of shoes can I donate?
This is an easy one: ALL TYPES OF SHOES!
We'll take your sandals and your tennis shoes; your work boots, running shoes, basketball shoes, hiking boots, swim shoes, high heels, kitten heels, boots, booties, flats, and (as the name suggests) your flip flops!
We'll take baby, toddler, and kids' shoes as well as adult shoes (men's or women's).
We do ask that you avoid donating fuzzy slippers, as they are a little difficult to sanitize.
"But these shoes are practically destroyed! No one would want them," you say. We say: donate them anyway! Each pair of shoes donated will be thoroughly examined and cleaned before going to their new home. You may think the shoes aren't worth donating, but the truth is that they may be going to someone who doesn't have shoes at all or, if they do, they're in even worse shape.
Where do the donated shoes go?
Shoes donated to our office, after inspection and cleaning, will be distributed through collaboration with the East Side Soup Kitchen. This fantastic organization feeds and supports those in our community who need a little extra help. In 2023, our office had the opportunity to help distribute shoes during one of the weekly meals at the ESSK's location in the heart of Saginaw.
